History of Cayton
Cayton has a rich history, marked by notable events such as the closure of the Cayton railway station in 1952 and a major landslip at Cayton Bay in 2008. During the Second World War, defences were constructed around the village, and it sent 45 men to fight in the First World War and 60 in the Second, with no fatalities among them. In 2010, Cayton received a Silver-gilt award at the Britain in Bloom awards, showcasing its commitment to community beautification.
