Supporting a Noble Cause

About Parkinson’s Disease

Parkinson’s is the fastest-growing neurological condition in the world. It is caused by a lack of dopamine in the brain due to the loss of nerve cells that produce this essential chemical. While there is currently no cure, research has led to significant advancements in understanding and treating the disease. Cure Parkinson’s funds research to uncover the causes of Parkinson’s, develop new treatments, and explore the repurposing of existing drugs to manage symptoms such as hallucinations and falls.

Innovative Treatments in Development

Research efforts are focused on several promising areas:

  • Stem Cell Therapies: These therapies aim to replace or repair damaged cells in the brains of Parkinson’s patients.
  • Gene Therapies: Utilizing the power of genetics to reprogram cells and enhance their function and longevity.
  • Growth Factors: Natural molecules like GDNF support the growth and survival of brain cells, offering potential therapeutic benefits.

Event Sponsors

The event is supported by several key sponsors, including main sponsor Howdens Joinery, Hull-based Beal Homes, Spaldington-based Filstorage, Salko, and Thermacoat Powder Coating promoted by WS2 Coatings Ltd.
