An Immersive Journey Through Female Identity

REVIVING HER introduces audiences to six women who find themselves in an unfamiliar setting. Confused and disoriented, they embark on an introspective journey through their past, present, and future.

This narrative, conveyed through a compelling blend of dance and theatre, explores the essence of womanhood in contemporary society. The show is a testament to the resilience and strength of Northern women, presenting their stories in brave, fearless, and honest voices.

Origin and Development

The concept for REVIVING HER originated during the pandemic in 2021 when six female artists united with the goal of creating an empowering production for women. After three years of self and group reflection, the Northern Rascals are ready to share their work with the public.

Co-Artistic Director Anna Holmes has drawn from her own experiences to craft a narrative that addresses generational and societal trauma under the male gaze. This production aims to help audiences reconnect with their true selves by reflecting on their personal histories and current realities.

A Collaboration of Young Talent

Northern Rascals prides itself on showcasing the work of young artists, proving that age does not determine the quality of art. The creative team behind REVIVING HER is entirely composed of individuals aged 30 and under.

This includes original writing by Anna Holmes, who has been mentored by acclaimed writer and spoken word artist Joelle Taylor, a large-scale set, and an original score by composer Wilfred Kimber.
