Welcome to Yorkshire
Inspiration • May 1st, 2026
|The Plough, a beloved community pub in Fadmoor, North Yorkshire, is making headlines with an exciting new partnership. In collaboration with Cooper King Distillery, the pub has launched a collection of house spirits, all aimed at helping fund its renovation. This initiative follows the pub's feature on the television show Our Yorkshire Pub Rescue with Jon Richardson, which aired its first series in February 2026.

Partnership With Cooper King Distillery
On 28 April 2026, The Plough announced its collaboration with Cooper King Distillery, a local distillery renowned for its sustainable practices and high-quality spirits. This partnership allows the pub to offer a range of unique, Yorkshire-made spirits, which can now be purchased online and at various events hosted by The Plough.
For every bottle sold, up to £10 will be donated back to The Plough to support its much-needed renovations. This means that by enjoying a drink, customers are also contributing to the future of their local pub.
The Spirits on Offer
The new range of spirits features a delightful selection, perfect for those who enjoy a tipple. The line-up includes:
Dry Gin - £41
Basil Gin - £41
Berry & Basil Gin Liqueur - £34
Black Cardamom Vodka - £38
Single Malt Whisky - £85

These spirits can be purchased online via the Cooper King website, and customers will also have the chance to sample them at fundraising events. When The Plough reopens later this year, these drinks will be available behind the bar too. Additionally, customers who buy any of the gins can get them refilled at the distillery in Sutton-on-the-Forest with a 15% discount.
Community Support and Renovation Plans
The Plough has always held a special place in the hearts of locals, but it faced closure in 2011. After being registered as an Asset of Community Value, a dedicated community group worked tirelessly to reopen it. The pub was purchased by the Fadmoor Community Pub Limited on 30 September 2024, thanks to a combination of government grant funding and community shares.
Debbie Sheehan, a representative of the pub, expressed excitement about the new spirits:
“This is a fabulous opportunity for our supporters to enjoy award-winning spirits when they come to The Plough. Everyone, wherever you are based, can help us by purchasing a bottle of their favourite Cooper King tipple with money from each sale coming back to us to help fund the community pub renovation.”
About Cooper King Distillery
Founded in 2016 by Dr Abbie Jaume and Chris Jaume, Cooper King Distillery has made a name for itself by producing sustainable spirits. The distillery operates on 100% renewable energy and has achieved numerous awards for its innovative practices. It was the first distillery in Europe to produce carbon-negative gin and England's first net-zero energy whisky.
Chris Jaume noted,
“We are very lucky to live in this beautiful part of the country that’s so full of fantastic food and drink suppliers and amazing pubs and restaurants. Getting involved with local businesses has been central to what we do from the beginning, so we’re chuffed to be playing a part in the renaissance of The Plough.”
Looking Ahead
The Plough is set to reopen later this year, and the community is eagerly anticipating its return. The renovations will not only enhance the pub's appearance but also ensure it remains a hub for social gatherings and local events.
The Plough's story is a testament to the power of community spirit and the importance of supporting local businesses. With the help of Cooper King Distillery, the future looks bright for this beloved Yorkshire pub.
