About the book

Yorkshire Vet Julian Norton returns with a new book of veterinary anecdotes.

Julian Norton, the beloved Yorkshire vet, returns with another captivating book, “Ruminations of a Yorkshire Vet,” continuing his popular ‘Diary’ series. This installment offers a rich collection of stories from his diverse veterinary practice in North Yorkshire.

Throughout this period, Julian’s days are predominantly occupied with farm animals, involving tasks like calving cows, treating milk fever, managing prolapses, and even performing eye removal surgery on a bull. The variety of cases he handles is astounding, including sheep semen collection, caring for lopsided fish, treating accident-prone cats, bald guinea pigs, a three-legged hedgehog, Perky the pigeon, Elvis the goat, and dealing with minty gloves, among many others.

The book also provides insight into how the Covid-19 pandemic impacted his veterinary work, with Julian reflecting on life and his unexpected yet fulfilling television career.

Written in the charming style that fans of the Channel 5 hit series “The Yorkshire Vet” will recognize, this book promises to be a delightful and engaging read. It is beautifully produced and illustrated throughout, making it a perfect addition to any bookshelf.
