Welcome to Yorkshire
Inspiration • May 19th, 2026
|A summer of creativity is underway in East Yorkshire as the East Riding Artists continue their exclusive year-long collaboration with Burton Constable Hall, alongside the launch of the group’s much-anticipated annual exhibition at Beverley Minster.
A Summer of Creativity in East Yorkshire
One of the largest art collectives in the North of England, the East Riding Artists (ERA) have taken over the historic Stables Gallery at Burton Constable Hall throughout 2026, delivering a changing programme of themed exhibitions celebrating Yorkshire landscapes, heritage and creativity.
The next exhibition, Water’s Edge, runs from 9 June to 19 July and will showcase artwork inspired by East Yorkshire’s dramatic coastline and waterways. Visitors can expect a diverse collection of both 2D and 3D pieces exploring the county’s natural beauty through painting, sculpture, ceramics and mixed media.
Beverley Minster Exhibition Launches in May
The exhibition follows the group’s annual showcase at Beverley Minster, which launches on 25 May and features a broader collection of work spanning a wide range of subjects and artistic styles.
Art, Heritage and History at Burton Constable Hall
Future themed exhibitions at Burton Constable Hall will include Secret Garden, Echoes and From My Window, while an additional exhibition featuring associate members will take place in the Riding School from 29 July to 12 August.
The collaboration marks a significant moment for both the artists and the historic East Yorkshire estate. Burton Constable Hall attracts thousands of visitors each year thanks to its celebrated collection of Thomas Chippendale furniture, remarkable Cabinet of Curiosities and extensive landscaped grounds.
Exploring The Curiosity Garden
Visitors can also explore The Curiosity Garden, an exhibition inspired by William Constable’s historic Herbarium collection. The display examines the “dry garden” of preserved plants collected during the 18th century and highlights the collaboration between collectors, botanists and gardeners of the period.
The exhibition explores the development of the Herbarium between the 1740s and 1760s, as well as the transformation of the estate and parkland after William Constable inherited Burton Constable in 1747. It also examines the later landscape redesigns carried out by renowned landscape architect Capability Brown during the 1770s.
Partnership Brings New Creative Programme to the Hall
Alasdair Hutson, Chief Executive of the Burton Constable Foundation, said:
“We are delighted to be working in partnership with East Riding Artists to bring a full year of creative programming into the Stables Gallery. Burton Constable Hall has always been a place where history, heritage and culture meet, and this collaboration will give visitors the opportunity to enjoy an ever-changing series of exhibitions by some of the region’s most talented artists.”
The house and surrounding parkland have been home to the Constable family for more than 700 years. The Burton Constable Foundation was established in 1992 to help secure the long-term future of the estate and preserve one of Yorkshire’s most significant historic houses.
