<strong>Assembly Fitter / Welder</strong><br /><strong>Shift: Monday – Friday, 6:00am – 2:15pm</strong><br /><strong>Location: Bradford</strong><br /><strong>Salary: Up to &#163;38,594.68</strong><br /><br /><strong>Role Summary</strong><br />We are looking for an experienced Assembly Fitter / Welder to join our client's production team, working on the manufacture and assembly of high-quality technical equipment.<br />As an Assembly Fitter / Welder, you will be responsible for fitting, welding, and assembling components to precise engineering specifications, ensuring all work meets dimensional and quality standards.<br />This Assembly Fitter / Welder role involves supporting the full build process, from preparation and fitting through to welding and final inspection, while adhering to safe working practices and production schedules.<br /><br /><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong><br /><ul> <li>Identify and gather the correct parts required for assembly operations (Op 10 / Op 20)</li><li>Inspect components to ensure they match the bill of materials and are free from defects</li><li>Prepare parts in line with work orders and engineering drawings for fitting and welding</li><li>Carry out mechanical assembly and fitting of components, from small parts to larger machine sections</li><li>Set up and operate welding equipment (MIG and basic TIG), ensuring correct parameters are applied</li><li>Perform welding activities in line with specifications and drawing requirements</li><li>Assemble pipework, including pneumatic and general pipe systems</li><li>Operate rolling and swaging machinery as required (training provided)</li><li>Use hand tools to finish, polish, and prepare components to required standards</li><li>Cut materials using gas, plasma, and cutting discs as required</li><li>Carry out quality checks to ensure assemblies meet dimensional tolerances and specifications</li><li>Identify, tag, and store completed assemblies correctly</li><li>Safely move parts using appropriate lifting equipment, including overhead cranes</li><li>Maintain a clean and organised work area around machinery and tools</li><li>Monitor workflow to ensure production schedules and deadlines are achieved</li><li>Follow SOPs, safe systems of work, and all health &amp; safety procedures</li><li>Support wider assembly and fabrication tasks as required</li></ul> <br /><strong>Qualifications &amp; Experience</strong><br /><ul> <li>Minimum 5 years’ experience in an Assembly Fitter / Welder or similar role (including apprenticeship)</li><li>Level 3 Apprenticeship or NVQ in Mechanical Engineering, Fabrication &amp; Welding, or equivalent</li><li>Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and assembly instructions</li><li>Experience using a wide range of hand and air tools (grinders, drills, die grinders, etc.)</li><li>Welding experience (MIG essential, basic TIG desirable)</li><li>Experience working with large assemblies or machinery builds is advantageous</li><li>Good understanding of welding symbols, processes, and quality standards</li><li>Strong awareness of health &amp; safety procedures and safe working practices</li><li>Experience working with job cards or production documentation is desirable</li></ul> <br /><strong>Personal Skills</strong><br /><ul> <li>High attention to detail and strong hand-eye coordination</li><li>Ability to work to tight deadlines and production schedules</li><li>Comfortable working independently and as part of a team</li><li>Strong communication skills, both verbal and written</li><li>Able to follow technical instructions, procedures, and quality standards</li><li>Comfortable working at height and in confined spaces</li></ul>
